Learn to Weave in the Round! Sunday, June 15, 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. Join Instructor Jess Pickering for a circular weaving workshop where you’ll create a one-of-a-kind woven wall hanging. In this Sunday class, you’ll learn both basic and intermediate weaving techniques such as tabby stitch, rya, and soumak, while exploring texture, color, and composition on a circular hoop. Whether you’re a beginner or have some experience, Jess will guide you through the process to bring your unique vision to life. All materials are provided—just bring your creativity! Fiber Fest Drop Spindles! Sunday, June 15 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. We are excited to offer this fun woodworking workshop on Sunday for Fiber Fest! Join us for a morning of fiber & woodworking friendship and camaraderie. This workshop is geared for fiber enthusiasts, menders, and beginners interested in making their own drop spindles for spinning yarn. This is a special offering in conjunction with Fiber Fest, a 3-day celebration of wool as a sustainable material. This 3-hour woodworking workshop will acquaint students with a woodturning lathe, its parts, the tools needed, safety tips, tool sharpening techniques and how to shape wood on a lathe. The class will consist of students learning to round a piece of square stock, learning the four basic cuts and turning a drop spindle as their take home project. Ages 16 years and older. San Diego farmers and farms are the focus of "California Grown, Plein Air" exhibition at the Bonita Museum & Cultural Center May 17 – June 20, 2025. In the Spring of 2025, plein air painters from around San Diego County painted at farms, documenting the diverse types of farms in the region. Juror Katie Stokes, the editor of Edible San Diego Magazine, will select her favorite artworks during the reception, Saturday May 17 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. "Edible San Diego magazine has been celebrating local food in farms and gardens for 17 years. Our region's many beautiful valleys, hills, creeks, rich history and diverse plant and animal life make it a haven to grow food or enjoy the harvests of farmers, ranchers and fishers. Participants can meet at the museum at 9 a.m. to find maps and coffee for the paint-out. Artwork from the paint-out will be displayed for sale in the “wet gallery”. Artist Rose Irelan will be leading a plein air painting workshop on Friday, June 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration is required through the museum website on the exhibitions page. MiraCosta College Symphony Orchestra (MCCSO) and the Music Teachers’ Association of California (MTAC) Young Artists Showcase II The MiraCosta College Symphony Orchestra would like to invite you to join us for an eventful evening of music making featuring the incredibly talented young artist winners of the MTAC of San Diego’s concerto competition. We will have multiple soloists joining the orchestra for an amazing display of poise and virtuosity. To complete the celebration, the MCCSO will perform P. I.
