About Carter Key Carter Key is a trombonist, pianist, vocalist, educator, composer, and arranger. Originally from Richmond, VA., in 2015 Carter moved to Miami, FL to pursue Jazz Studies at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music. While attending UM, Carter played lead trombone in the prestigious Frost Concert Jazz Band and served as a mentor for younger musicians in the jazz program. Since then, he has worked as a top call musician in South Florida for jazz orchestras, and recordings, particularly for groups such as South Florida Jazz Orchestra and Libido Band. Carter was featured on trombone on the Grammy Award Winning big band album “The Omni-American Book Club” by Brian Lynch. Carter has performed alongside musicians such as Gloria Estefan, Ziggy Marley, Damian Marley, Haley Reinhart, Brett Eldridge, John Daversa, Farruko, Stephen Marley, Gilbert Castellanos, and Arturo Sandoval among others. Based out of sunny San Diego, Gypsy Sally is a three piece blues band that brings the old school feel to the new age from blues, to rock with the occasional Bossa and Latin twist. Front man Kyler Jakubowski has utilized his North Carolina roots and over the years has created a very unique blues sound not heard since the 50’s, Austin Wagner links the rhythm and melody with his smooth motown influenced James Jameson style, and Martin Quezada holds the beat on drums with his Caribbean swing, all of which when brought together creates what is now known as the one and only Gypsy Sally. To date, Gypsy Sally has recorded one album, "How Long," recorded live in the studio with Alan Sanderson. Gypsy Sally is named after a bar in the song "Tecumseh Valley" by Townes Van Zandt. Apart from Van Zandt, the band is influenced by classic blues artists like B.B. King, John Lee Hooker, and Peter Green. The event will bring together sports medicine physicians; former professional athletes and coaches from Major League Baseball, the National Football League and the National Basketball Association; local team general managers; athletic trainers; physical therapists; and others on the front lines of sports and athletic care. Topics will include a thorough analysis of overhead throwing athletes, such as baseball pitchers; considerations for contact sports such as football, rugby and hockey; tracking and managing mental stress in athletes; overall athletic development, performance training and injury risk reduction; and health preservation after an athletic career.
