On Thursday, April 13, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., San Diego County Farm Bureau will be hosting a one-of-a-kind tasting and education event at the world-renowned Carlsbad Flower Fields. Just 300 people will be able to taste our local bounty in crafted bites and beverages, while interacting with the farmers and purveyors who grew and made them. Here is what guests can expect: stations offering unique bites creatively prepared by San Diego chefs, regional craft beverages, local growers and farmers, and supporting businesses of San Diego agriculture. Guests will receive a complimentary tasting glass, speak with an array of people and partners involved in local agriculture, and engage with growers and trade groups to learn more about what it is like to farm in San Diego County. Farmers of the area will be in attendance, equipped with generations of agriculture stories to share. Attendees will walk away with new friends in farming. Tickets are $60 and can be purchased online at www.sdfarmbureau.org/graze-at-the-fields. This is a 21+ event.

  • Carving Club Mondays from 5 – 7 p.m. Join us for a weekly Carving Club at San Diego Craft Collective. Hone your wood carving skills in a supportive environment of fellow carvers. The Craft Collective offers carvers of varying skill levels a place to meet to create their own spoons or other carved items. Hand tools will be available for use during club meeting time. Carving Club is suitable for those who have completed the Introduction to spoon carving course, or have some previous carving experience. We will supply materials and carving tools, but if you have your own, please bring them. If you’d like to purchase or bring your own tools, the following tools are what the instructor recommends for carving a simple spoon: -1” #5 sweep gouge -1.5” #3 sweep gouge -1/2” #8 sweep gouge -straight carving knife -slightly curved carving knife Ages 14+ welcome. We strongly recommend carving gloves or cut-resistant gloves, and this is required for people under the age of 18.
