  • Join the SDHS for a glamorous afternoon of wine, appetizers, and a solo concert from the principal harpist of the LA Philharmonic, Emmanuel Ceysson, at a beautiful home in Elfin Forest. After the concert, meet the artist at a dessert reception. Ticket sales fund the San Diego Chapter of the American Harp Society's mission of empowering the next generation of harpists through cultivating musical experiences and bringing world-class artists to San Diego. This event in particular helps fund our high school senior, harp camp, and harp lesson scholarships. Student members attend for FREE with a paid adult. With his powerful, virtuoso playing, Emmanuel Ceysson sweeps away all the clichés associated with his instrument. His infectious enthusiasm and boundless energy reveals the harp in all its sparkling splendour, in a world where poetry rhymes with temperament. He was the GOLD Medallist at the 2004 USA international Harp Competition, First Prize at the New York Young Concert Artists Auditions in 2006, and First Prize at the 2009 ARD competition in Munich; thus securing a press acclaimed solo career, as RECITALIST in major concert venues like Carnegie Zankel Hall, Wigmore Hall, Salle Gaveau, Munich Gasteig, Wiener Konzerthaus, Hyogo concert hall, and as SOLOIST WITH ORCHESTRAS such as the Oslo Philharmonic, Bavarian Radio Orchestra, Deutsche Symphonie Orchester, RAI Orchestra Torino, Orchestre National de Lyon, PKF Prague Philharmonia.   • In honor of All Saints Weekend, enjoy an art exhibition by artist Gracie Morbitzer who paints modern day depictions of saints. She combines the character, correct age, ethnicity, and modern style to show just how human the saints were – just like us. The art will be accompanied by music from First United Methodist Church of San Diego's Jubilee Singers, Chamber Choir, and youth ensembles. The choral concert will include hymns and anthems conducted by Brian Lustig and Dana Zimbric. Come enjoy the art, music, and light a candle for the saints in your life.   • In this calming, hands-on workshop, the art of embroidery is combined with the practice of mindfulness– no prior experience needed! The workshop will cover the fundamentals of embroidery, including the foundational stitches, and how to use color, texture, and pattern to create a unique hand embroidered piece. The session will begin in the museum gallery, with a guided tour of the current exhibitions. Participants will discuss the work on display, and draw inspiration from the featured themes and techniques. Participants will then learn the basic techniques of embroidery, as well as how to use it as a mindful way of connecting with themselves and the moment, before creating a final piece of their own. Participants will receive an embroidery hoop, tea towel, needle and thread to finish their project at home. No experience needed. All materials included.
