  • Visions Museum of Textile Art is hosting their 25th international juried art quilt exhibit, "Quilt Visions 2024." Discover innovative textile art that explores form, craftsmanship, and surface design techniques from 28 artists. This exhibit is on display from Oct. 19 to Dec. 28, 2024 at Visions Museum of Textile Art: 2825 Dewey Rd. Suite 100 San Diego, CA 92106. Visions Museum of Textile Art is free and open to the public on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Accessible parking is available in front of our building, with a ramp entrance to the left of our main door.   • Six of San Diego’s most talented AAPI chefs (Asian Americans and Pacific Islander) will create signature baked goods for the Friendly Feast AAPI Chefs Bake Sale, taking place at Cowboy Star on Sunday, November 17. Guests can pre-order a curated box with six unique items, including an ube coconut crumb doughnut, Valrhona chocolate cannelé, “Flandan tart”, and more. Boxes are priced at $45 each. Proceeds benefit the Friendly Feast scholarship fund and Pacific Arts Movement. Bake sale boxes go on sale Thursday, November 7th via the Friendly Feast website. Boxes must be purchased in advance for pick up at Cowboy Star on Sunday, November 17. Limited quantities available! We expect this event to sell out early.   • Based on Helen Thorpe's bestselling book, this documentary-style play follows four Latina teenage girls in Denver - two of who are documented and two who are not - through young adulthood. Their close-knit friendships begin to unravel when immigration status dictates the girls' opportunities, or lack thereof. When a political firestorm arises, each girl's future becomes increasingly complicated. Just Like Us poses difficult yet essential questions about what makes us American. "Just Like Us" is directed by Grossmont College Theatre Arts faculty member Walter Allen Bennett. This production will run November 21-23 & December 5-7, 2024.
