In these lectures, we always speak of the role of art within its given society, but with Rembrandt’s evocations of a human’s inner life and of the tragedy of life, art becomes universal, transcending boundaries and borders, time and place. About Cornelia Feye: Cornelia Feye has a MA in art history and anthropology from the University of Tübingen, Germany. She traveled around the world for seven years before landing in New York City, where she was an art educator at the Jacques Marchais Museum for Tibetan Art on Staten Island. After moving to San Diego, she added the Museum of Art and the Mingei International Museum to her education résumé, and for 10 years she was Director of the School of the Arts and Arts Education at the Athenaeum of Music & Arts. Feye has taught Western and non-Western art history at colleges and universities in San Diego and continues to lecture at UCSD with an emphasis on women artists and conceptual art. Feye has blended her knowledge of art history with her love of writing in five art mystery novels, including "Spring of Tears," which, along with her short story anthology "Magic, Mystery & Murder" won San Diego Book Awards. As publisher of Konstellation Press, she gives a voice to independent authors. She currently lives in Ocean Beach, California, where she enjoys writing, rollerblading and looking for the green flash. Monday – Wednesday, April 14 – 16, from 9 a.m. – Noon Ages 4-6 welcome! Taught by artist educator Yael Kent, your preschool age child will explore various crafts across a variety of mediums, like nature crafts in the garden, bubble making wands, nature weaving, and fossils with clay. We will explore through sensory activities, crafts and stories while developing fine motor skills. Littles learn best by doing and playing. We practice handwork and workplay. We “play” with natural objects and materials! Each project is planned so that children build skills while satisfying their need to explore. Projects are safe, non-toxic, earth friendly, and full of creativity. It’s important that your child bring water in a refillable bottle and a snack (no candy or peanut products please) in case they are hungry or thirsty during this time. In addition, if your child is enrolled in a nearby camp elsewhere in Liberty Station in the afternoon, and their camp begins as ours ends, we are happy to walk your child to their next camp. If you’d like your camper to stay during the lunch hour from 12-1pm, for a fun, supervised space to eat their lunch (not provided) and a craft afterward, visit Lunch Supervision.
