Hey Pumpkin Fest Fiends, With the Padres potential continuation into post-season play, the Great Pumpkin Beer Festival will be taking a hiatus for 2022 to root for our home team. The event will return in 2023 for a twice as epic gourd-centered celebration. The event venue lies just a few blocks away from Petco Park and with the uncertainty of a potential Padres home game conflicting with GPBF, we have been tossed some rotten apples and impassable uncertainties. The New Children’s Museum commissioned two artists on staff, Marcus Deridder and Taylor McCabe, to paint a large-scale and interactive mural. The World of Les Mor and Mor no Mor mural will be unveiled for visitors to experience on Wednesday, August 17. The World of Les Mor and Mor no Mor is an interactive mural that spans from the Museum’s main level to the upper level. The mural depicts two worlds: Les Mor on the upper level with friendly feathered fellows, and Mor no Mor on the main level with mischievous cave dwelling creatures. Travel between the two worlds through the magical elevator portal and help the citizens of each world stay in touch by passing on their mail! Filmmaker Mark Pedri had never heard his grandfather Silvio’s story despite spending nearly every day together for 10 years. It wasn’t until after Silvio’s death that Mark found an archive of old photos, letters, and documents detailing Silvio’s journey as a Prisoner of War (POW) in World War II. The discovery inspired Mark to bike over 500 miles across Europe, following the original Prisoner of War transportation routes, in an effort to tell his grandfather’s story and better understand the man who helped raise him.
