You will learn about Perfume composition, have fun smelling and enter the very secretive world of Perfume Formulation. You will learn how to blend and balance scents, as well as the basics of perfume making techniques. It features the work of four artists: Amanda Farber, Mensah Bey, Ceres Madoo and Adam Rabinowitz. It's inspired by a movement in midcentury California art history that was dominated by white male artists — though these four artists add diverse, new voices. The 20th century LA Cool School worked in a semi-urban abyss between the desert and coast and consisted of a mid-century style that combined both Pop and abstract expressionist influences alongside some homemade ingredients. This predominantly white male art movement produced immense work that has remained inspirational to a myriad of artists working today. Cool School (trane of thought) at Oolong Gallery brings together said new artists and their unique bodies of work, related to a degree but created independently from one another.
