  • Oct. 12, 2024 through Jan. 17, 2025 From the gallery: This exhibition brings together a series of new works produced by Cog•nate Collective in collaboration with communities of Tijuana & San Ysidro From sonic sculptures and neighborhood transmissions, to public participatory performance and collaboration with insects (yes, insects), the works explore forms & approaches to border-crossing. Inspired by popular hacks that facilitate movement and sustain connections across borders. The exhibition borrows its title from the popular 1971 song written and originally recorded by The Bee Gees – and extensively covered in English and Spanish – to call attention to the harsh immigration enforcement & policies along the U.S./MX border. All while pointing to the vital need to propose and rehearse ways our interconnected communities can mend what has been broken. Join us for the opening reception October 12, 2024, 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. 147 W San Ysidro Blvd Related links: The Front Arte & Cultura website | Instagram

  • Trilogía del Dolor is an exploration of human pain through music and poetry. It aims to musically portray a real human experience of pain, one that goes beyond its idealizations, helps open conversations about it, and contributes to transcend misunderstandings and taboos around it. The trilogy features the poetry of Mexican contemporary poets Nuria Manzur-Wirth, Ricardo Cázares, Tania Favela, Nadia Mondragón, and Mónica Morales Rocha, plus texts written by the composer. The performance will feature vocalists Mariana Flores Bucio and Miguel Zazueta, clarinetist Madison Greenstone, cellist Rocío Sánchez, percussionist Camilo Zamudio, and flutist/composer/narrator Wilfrido Terrazas. Additionally, artist Esther Gámez Rubio will be projecting visuals and stage directing. Visit: https://music-cms.ucsd.edu/concerts/box_office.html UC San Diego Music on Instagram
  • Get your engines revving, because on February 14th, you’re in for a high-octane night that will blow the roof off! Headlining the show is none other than The Reverend Horton Heat, bringing his signature mix of country-blues-rock that’s sure to melt your face off. Known for his electrifying performances, Jim Heath’s sermons of rock & roll transcend time and space. This is rockabilly reimagined with primal fire and space-cowboy swagger, and no one does it quite like the Reverend. Picture this: guitars that ignite, stand-up bass that shakes the floor, and a sound that transports you to a 1950s rockabilly fever dream—except it’s happening right now. From the spaghetti-western wall of sound in “Big Sky” to the mind-bending frenzy of “Psychobilly Freakout,” The Reverend Horton Heat’s live show is the drive-in movie soundtrack of your life. You don’t just hear it—you feel it. Visit: https://artcenter.org/event/reverend-horton-heat-with-black-joe-lewis-and-pinata-protest/ Reverend Horton Heat on Instagram and Facebook
