What begins as a simple quest to understand her sister’s hidden world soon escalates into a wild, action-packed journey, where Agnes faces off against homicidal fairies, menacing creatures, and the mother of dragons, Tiamat. As Agnes immerses herself in the fantastical realm Tilly created, she not only battles fantastical monsters but also confronts her fears, grief, and long-held misconceptions about her sister. Qui Nguyen’s script masterfully blends humor, fantasy, and self-discovery, creating a thrilling homage to the geek culture that has shaped generations of fans. Learn foldforming and the art of patinas with award winning metal artist and blacksmith, Pat Downing. In this all-day class, students will learn about safety, tools, and the basic methods of both foldforming and patinas. The class will consist of 3 hours of forming techniques and 3 hours focusing on patinas, with a one-hour lunch break. This is a hands-on techniques class designed to show how one can achieve folds and then apply patinas to finished pieces. In this class, students will work in copper, but the methods taught can be used in almost any metal and size, from jewelry to public art. What to bring: BYF (bring your favorite) hammer & safety glasses, if you have them. If not, you can borrow from ours. Students are welcome to bring a lunch to eat at the studio or nearby, or may purchase lunch nearby (there are many options in Liberty Station). Dr. Kiran Shinde will offer insights on public spaces and public art in Pune – a bustling metro in India, to illustrate how artists, designers, architects and built-environment professionals can contribute to the production of visual culture in a city. He will present several public projects that his team has implemented in Pune to inspire students and staff from different disciplines to take active roles in promoting better visual culture in their cities. He is the founder of Pune Biennale- a festival of art, design and architecture – and has organized three successful editions of Pune Biennale in 2013, 2015 and 2017 in partnership with Pune Municipal Corporation.
