The purpose of this free, family-friendly event is to promote slow fashion, sustainability and the Arts in San Diego. The official fashion show begins at 7 p.m. but the event is happening all day (12 p.m. - 8 p.m.) inside the beautiful Bread & Salt event space. Come early and celebrate with us!   • The Coronado Island Film Festival (CIFF) is kicking off its 8th season November 8-12, 2023 with a curated a slate of immersive programming including studio and independent films, engaging panels, parties, and the premiere gala event, the Leonard Maltin Industry Tribute Awards Gala, held at Loews Coronado Bay Resort this year. Join 120+ filmmakers, industry executives and entertainment leaders at the 5 day festival and catch one of the Red Carpet Films and San Diego premieres including the Centerpiece Feature, Maxine's Baby: The Tyler Perry Story, Common Ground, and Eileen. A Culinary Cinema series will be held on Friday, November 10 featuring the documentary Susan Feniger. Forked, a verité style film by award-winning filmmaker Liz Lachman as she captures the raw, behind-the-scenes moments and the impactful career of her life partner: iconic culinary artist, author, entrepreneur and James Beard award-winner, Susan Feniger. Susan has cooked for everyone from Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton to Oprah and Lady Gaga. A special Vans and Wahoo’s pre-party with Steven Van Doren, Vans’ Vice President of Marketing and Special Events and son of the Vans’ founder and Wing Lam, Co-Founder of Wahoo’s will be hosted on Sunday, November 12 ahead of the screening of HUMANITY STOKED. The documentary features Pro Skateboarders Tony Alva, Lizzie Armanto, and San Diegan Tony Hawk, among others. Other featured films include Past Lives, Black Barbie, Isle of Hope, the Nana Project, Scrap, Underground Orange, and Heightened.   • Zo is 34 years old and has been a performing guitarist for 12 years. He has been teaching people how to play and understand the guitar/piano for four years. Born in London, he was raised in North County, San Diego, where he currently resides. He is a graduate of CSULB with a degree in Jazz Guitar Performance, and during his time there he studied Blues, Pop, Rock, Soul, Funk, Classical, and Irish Folk Music. While at CSULB he joined an Irish Folk Band, and started his own Blues band along with vocalist Christina Wilson. He’s studied under many influential guitarists across the country. In Los Angeles, Ron Eschete and Mike Higgins. In New York, Peter Mazza, Gilad Hekselman, and Michael Valeanu. Finally, in San Diego he studied with Bob Boss, Lorraine Castellanos, Fred Kunze. These experiences have prepared him for large ensembles, quintets, quartets, trios, duos, and solo guitar performances in a variety of styles. Highlights include Libby Larsen’s Quartet She Wrote, dedicated to the harmonious celebration of female prowess, and Fanmi Imèn for flute and piano by Valerie Coleman, which weaves together a rich tapestry of emotions and cultures. Extraordinary soprano Tasha Koontz joins Camarada to perform works by Amy Beach and songs from the American Songbook. Composers Carlisle Floyd and Gabriela Lena Frank are also spotlighted in this celebration of music by, for, and about women.
