The Library's Autumn Concert Series takes place on Fridays from September 6 to October 25. Each concert will begin at 1 p.m. in the Winn Room. Doors will open 15 minutes prior to the performance. We close out this year's series with Adrienne Nims, who will take us on a musical journey with lush harmonies, mystical melodies, and global rhythms. Adrienne Nims’ passionate energy and dazzling musicianship are well acclaimed; As featured solo artist, or with her talented band, Spirit Wind, Adrienne creates an unforgettable and inspiring entertainment experience. Adrienne’s dynamic, sensual voice on the saxophones, flues, and many more global indigenous instruments express not only a vast array of musical culture and style, but also the magic and mystery of Life! Spirit Wind, Adrienne’s own band, feature Adrienne on soprano, alto, and tenor saxes, as well as many different flutes, including traditional western, Native American, Indian, African, and Asian flutes, performing contemporary jazz and global music throughout the United States and internationally. Mastery of so many different instruments and musical genres including rock, jazz, blues, classical, theater, Zen, Irish/Folk, and more have allowed Adrienne to dazzle spellbound audiences while seamlessly moving from one instrument and one genre to another. Spend an afternoon filled with creativity, furry friends, delicious food, and beverages. Recreate a beautiful portrait of your beloved furry companion. Whether you have a playful pup or a curious cat, this is the perfect opportunity to capture their unique personality on canvas. Our talented instructors will guide you step by step on how to make your painting come to life! This paint party is beginner-friendly, family-friendly, and pet-friendly. All supplies are provided. Get ready for playtime and have fun making custom paper toys. A few templates will be provided and printed on cardstock. Choose your favorite(s) and illustrate a character or color the template with a pattern or design. We’ll cut, fold, and adhere the designs together to make finished 3D paper toys for display or play. No experience necessary. Scissors can be used in lieu of a craft knife. Materials: The materials fee includes cardstock paper, paper toy template prints, self-healing mat, craft knife, metal ruler, bone folder, tape, glue, and a sample of colored pencils/markers. Optional but recommended: Bring your own favorite markers, pens, pencils, and/or colored pencils if you have a favorite set. We will be using light cardstock paper.
