If you’ve never heard a flute choir perform, you’re in for a treat! A flute choir is a unique ensemble that includes all sizes of flutes, from the tiny piccolo to the bassoon-sized bass flute. We invite everyone to join Avanti Flute Choir for an afternoon of music by diverse composers...from the drama of Puccini’s “Nessun Dorma” to the Magic Kingdom’s “Baroque Hoedown” and many more. Pathways to Citizenship, a Solana Beach-based non profit serving qualified individuals seeking US citizenship, will host its annual Party with a Purpose fundraising fest on Sunday, Oct 13. The "sunset on the green" happy hour will feature steel drum band "Sounds of Paradise," tasty international cuisine, tropical beverages and the opportunity to win holiday packages, local entertainment, and one-of-a-kind art pieces by local artists. Support goes to pro-bono legal and educational services for Ukrainian and Afghan refugees and qualified immigrants from around the world while enjoying cool drinks, good food and sunset on the green. LOS/NR is thrilled to present brand new, a group show for the new year about the daily energy needed to keep on going, about the ability to reinvent ourselves after experiencing events seeping deeply into the psyche - a way of taking the possibilities back, re-enabling lost/forgotten/diverted directions, steadying on a path of one's choosing, unabashed, enduring, brand new from all that has painfully happened. The show will be featuring brilliant national artists with significant voices and influence working in video, installation, photography, painting, printmaking, pottery and sculpture: Margaret Albaugh, Coralys Carter, Michael Roque Collins, Maria Markham, Valeria Vermeulen, Shelli Weiler, Christina West, and Vivi Yun. The Island Vibe Music Festival is a one-day event that incorporates musical performers HIRIE, EKOLU, JORDAN T, LIKKLE JORDEE, JASON J and dancers from across the Pacific Islands including Polynesia, Micronesia, and Melanesia.
