  • Karen New Year celebration is the biggest cultural celebration for people of the Karen ethnicity of Burma, and other refugees from Burma resettled in San Diego. 2025 Karen New Year celebration, will be held on Saturday January 11, 2025, at the Colina Del Sol Park. KOSD aims to welcome at least 500 people during the four hours of cultural celebration. More than 100 community members, volunteers, and KOSD staff will be involved with the event planning and production process. The event will include opening and closing ceremonies, a presentation on Karen New Year history, more than 15 cultural dance and music performances, and youth cultural fashion shows.
