  • Join us in Encinitas for even more ways to interact with contemporary art! Weekly Wellness Saturdays at ICA San Diego / North expands on our 2025-2026 exhibition season theme, "On Healing." The exhibitions are part of a year-long exploration of the ways artists address the various socio-cultural wounds revealed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Similarly, the associated programs and events seek to explore how art can serve as a vital tool for mental, physical, emotional, and community wellbeing. Weekly Wellness Saturdays will take place most Saturdays throughout the year during ICA San Diego’s open hours (Noon – 5 p.m.), and includes: 1–2 p.m.: A rotating healing session hosted by a local facilitator 2:15–3:15 p.m.: A complimentary tour of the current exhibition in its Lower and Upper Pavilions, the outdoor garden, and Sculpture Trail 3:30-4:30 p.m.: A rotating healing session hosted by a local facilitator 12–5 p.m.: An all ages art-making activity related to this year’s "On Healing" season 12–5 p.m.: Complimentary admission to ICA / North’s exhibitions Admission to Weekly Wellness Saturdays at ICA / North is free, and a donation will be suggested for healing activities, and made directly to the facilitator. Please bring a yoga mat or seat cushion and eye covering. All art materials will be supplied. 3:30 p.m.: Embodied Movement with Claire Halter — A guided journey of somatic, heart-led movement where music, intention, and creative expression invite you to attune to your body, release, and move with compassion. You’ll be offered gentle prompts alongside space for intuitive, freeform expression—moving from stillness to flow, and back to rest. Open to all—come as you are, and let your body lead the way.   • Sundays, September 7 & 14, from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. Steam bending wood is an efficient and environmentally-friendly process that has been used for hundreds of years in the construction of chairs, boats, tools, and countless other wooden objects. In this workshop, students will learn the fundamental process of steam bending wood, from wood selection and preparation, to the actual bending and drying process. Through demonstrations and hands-on exercises, students will each make their own steam-bent flower vase to take home. Materials are included. Students are asked to wear/bring long-sleeved clothing and a pair of thermal or heavy gloves. These are the instructor’s favorite gloves. Ages 18 and up. No experience necessary. Students in the program have developed, researched, curated, publicized, and installed this exhibition as part of their coursework in Art 271, Museum and Gallery Exhibition. These innovative student curators collaborated to create a cohesive show. This exhibition provides a unique opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in museum and gallery operations, as well as in curatorial practices.
