  • Conducted by Internationally Renowned Author and Spiritual Teacher Dimitri Moraitis Join our monthly fellowship as we share metaphysical insights from the Divine on a variety of topics and current affairs. This month, Dimitri will take a non-partisan look at partisan politics! With the upcoming national elections, and so many important issues to address, how do we find common ground to make the best decisions for our nation? In every democratic system, there will be discords and disagreements. What are the spiritual dynamics driving the current political scene? And how can we better understand the dynamics of democracies around the world at this dramatic time in human development and evolution? Dimitri will share metaphysical insights from the Divine as to how you can keep your spiritual equilibrium and make your contribution to the collective betterment of the country and the world. Meditations with Divine Light, world prayers and music will be part of the fellowship. “If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, it expects what never was and never will be.” ― Thomas Jefferson There has never been a better time to pursue your soul’s growth. • Join us as Dimitri shares metaphysical insights from the Divine on the controversial topic of the use of psychoactive substances as part of one’s spiritual journey. Many experiment with drugs thinking it is a way to stimulate spiritual experiences. Yet metaphysics teaches that there are no shortcuts to awakening the inner mystical life. We must earn each step in our spiritual enlightenment. There have always been the pitfalls of counterfeit spiritual experiences when one mistakenly thinks they have awakened the door to the spiritual life—sometimes through mind-altering drugs—when in fact what they have done is weaken the very inner faculties needed to reach the spiritual summit. “Seekers of divine ecstasy are abjured to abstain strictly from inebriating substances and sensual stimulants, which keep the life force and consciousness bound in body consciousness and easily become habit forming.” – Paramahansa Yogananda With the blossoming of the spiritual renaissance, it’s more essential than ever to pursue your spiritual journey with a clear, sober head and employ the tools of spiritual maturity at your disposal—intuition, inspiration, meditation and the application of spiritual truth. Meditations with Divine Light, world prayers and music will be part of the fellowship. There has never been a better time to pursue your soul’s growth. • Elder Lightfoot Solomon Michaux was a renowned Black preacher and broadcaster. Radio Diaries' series "Making Waves" looks at his life and his contentious relationship with Martin Luther King Jr.
  • From the museum: Mass Creativity 2024 is a collective art making and community building program for San Diego communities. For this year’s 12th annual Mass Creativity program, the Museum has partnered with collaborating artist, Chelle Barbour (she/her) to make this the most exciting year yet! The theme of our Mass Creativity programming this year is Gifts For The Future inspired by the life and legacy of Octavia E. Butler and her vision of community, and storytelling of alternative futures rooted in Science Fiction. Together we have developed a series of free community workshops in partnership with our 2024 Community partners that will take place at seven organizations throughout San Diego County. Workshops are an ode to the vibrancy of our communities and ultimately, are designed to encourage play, imagination, and collective art making. Community workshops have taken place in the months leading up to a joyful culmination on Mass Creativity Day which will be on Saturday, June 22, 2024 – and it is also the birthday of Octavia E. Butler! This event will be a grand celebration of the artworks created by San Diego communities and will include music and dance performances, food vendors, and free admission to The New Children’s Museum! About the collaborating artist: Chelle Barbour (she/her) is an interdisciplinary artist recognized for her diverse Afro-Futurist and Afro-Surrealist collages. Influenced by Romare Bearden, Barbour’s characters cast a broad net in their interpretation. From vibrant chameleons, goddesses, and agent provocateurs to commanding warriors and impassive spies, Barbour’s compelling collage portraiture conveys allegory, conviction, fantasy, and femininity. Her art aesthetic and process combine fragmentations, pieces of unexpected layers of elements that challenge viewers to read inferences derived from the black Diasporic imagination and culture. Barbour is a California Arts Council Individual Artist Fellow. She has participated in solo and group exhibitions nationwide, and her work is in permanent collections of art institutions and private collections.
