Instructor: Orli Moses Born and raised in California, she grew up in a Hebrew-speaking household and holds dual Master’s degrees in teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TEOSL), and Master of International Business Administration (MIBA) from the World Union of Jewish Studies (WUJS) in Arad, Israel. She has been teaching Hebrew and Jewish Studies for the last 30 years and previously served as Director of Kesher Kef, an afterschool Hebrew enrichment program. Of the many challenges facing the monarch butterfly, climate change may be the most significant. We will also hear about his new book! Bill Toone is the Founder of ECOLIFE Conservation. He holds a Master’s Degree in Biology from University of California. Toone became the youngest Curator of Birds for the Zoological Society of San Diego at the age of 28. In 1983 he and Noel Snyder led the recovery team for the world-renowned, federally mandated California Condor Recovery Team retrieving the first wild California condor egg and safely transported it to the San Diego Zoo; later to be hatched in the zoo. He oversaw the care and nurture of this first chick and many that followed. Because of these events, Bill Toone, along with Betty Jo Williams (President of the Board) and Arthur Risser were bestowed with the nation’s highest award in conservation from the Secretary of the Interior. We've looked at the biggest threats to birds and wondered how people can make a difference: threats like habitat loss, run-ins with domestic pets, collisions with windows and other human-made objects, loss of reliable food sources. There is a glimmer of hope: we can make choices that can reduce the threats. The Bird-friendly Home and Garden Expo will introduce you to some businesses with products and services that help birds, either directly or indirectly. The inaugural expo will take place on Sunday, February 26, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Marina Village Conference Center - 1936 Quivira Way. The event will consist of a total of 22 booths (both indoor and outdoor) and two classrooms where educational presentations will occur. The event is free, no registration required. He has taken postgraduate courses in communication, interviewing, and industrial and organizational psychology. Ron has had over 90 articles published in more than 18 periodicals. He has written five books: I Got Away With It - Perfect Crimes; Discovering Roots; Getting Published in Journals, Magazines and Other Periodicals - A How to Book; and Empaths, Sixty Odd Short Stories.
