California plans to roll out an ambitious plan to manufacture its own insulin, but in the meantime, legislators are proposing to cap what diabetics pay.

The sixth annual Adams Avenue Spirit Stroll, presented by Cutwater Spirits, will take place on Saturday, November 27, from 2 – 5 p.m., as part of the nation-wide Small Business Saturday. Spirit strollers will be able to sip a dozen holiday themed cocktail tastes and six sweet treats from 18 independently owned retail shops along Adams Avenue, from University Heights through Normal Heights and into Kensington. This festive small business celebration is limited to adults 21 & up (ID required). Retail participants include: Artistic Florals, Back from Tomboctou Gallery & Imports, BENCH Home, Blackmarket Bakery, Divine Bubble, Earthwell Refill, Eclipse Naturals, Heights Optometry, Incredible Cheesecake Company, Kiko and Sven, Liquid Eden Holistic Center, Maya Moon, MRH Interiors, Paleo Treats, Rose Reggae, Uptown Bicycles, Wild Island Collective, and Zac’s Attic. Cocktail tastes will be created and served by Adams Avenue’s top mixologists representing the area’s leading bars and restaurants. This year’s spirit participants will represent; AC Lounge, Cantina Mayahuel, El Zarape Restaurant, Et Voila! French Bistro, Kensington Club, the Ould Sod, Ponce’s Mexican Restaurant, the Rabbit Hole, SKA Bar, Sycamore Den, and Wormwood. In addition, there will be a complimentary trolley carrying attendees up and down the avenue during the event. POSTPONED: 11-week Docent Training Program Begins Tuesday, Feb. 15 - April 26, 2022 The Maritime Museum of San Diego, with an international reputation for excellence in restoring, maintaining, and operating historic landmark vessels opens their next docent volunteer training program to newcomers! Docent volunteers will learn about worldwide maritime history with a special focus on the 16th through 21st centuries represented by the vessels and artifacts in the Maritime Museum of San Diego’s collection. Docents will engage with museum visitors, fielding their questions and sharing knowledge to enrich the guest experience. Training is carried out through a series of lectures, suggested readings and walking tours. Aspiring docents are invited to attend the once-a-year 2022 training series of lectures and ship tours. Training sessions are Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to noon.
