Springtime in Carlsbad brings a burst of color and creativity with the highly anticipated Art & Wine Walk happening on Saturday, April 13 from 3 to 6 p.m at The Forum Carlsbad, an outdoor lifestyle shopping center operated by Northwood Retail. This beloved annual event promises a delightful fusion of art, wine and community spirit amidst the picturesque backdrop of this charming coastal town. The Art & Wine Walk is a free event that will feature an array of artistic expressions, including paintings, ceramics, photography and more. Guests are invited to explore the center to view artwork from visiting and local artists in participating shops and restaurants. Attendees are also invited to stop by the Wine Garden near YETI for a special wine tasting presented by Jimbo’s, custom charcuterie cones from Mirabelle Charcuterie, and live acoustic music by the talented Christian Jules Taylor The Wine Garden presented by Jimbo’s will offer attendees an opportunity to taste a variety of fine wines from around the world along locally brewed non-alcoholic beer. Guests must be 21 years old to enter the Wine Garden. Representatives from Yering Station will serve Little Yering Chardonnay, a bright and vibrant selection with classic citrus notes of lemon and pink grapefruit, as well as the Little Yering Pinot Noir, which finishes with briary spice and ripe cherry fruit. Representatives from Zephyr will serve a Sauvignon Blanc, which expresses the ethereal, aromatic and structural flair of the Dillions Point Sub-Region in Marlborough, New Zealand. Massanois will serve Club 44 Mediterranee Rose, inspired by the French Riviera, with refreshing hints of summer strawberry, raspberry and juicy watermelon. For guests craving a different selection of spirits, Melograno will provide samples of premium cocktails such as the Orange Blossom Martini, Melon Margarita, and Pomegranate Cosmopolitan. RationAle Brewing will also be on site to provide samples of non-alcoholic craft beer. Donations will be accepted at the event on behalf of The Flower Fields Foundation. The Foundation is dedicated to offering educational and enrichment programs for kids in schools, scouts and charter/academy programs. She considers both a source of inspiration and paradise. AP explores the theme of colorful beauty in nature through vivid contrasts and intends to bring joy and life to the viewer. Gather Wild is a women-owned brand that sells creative handcrafted home goods inspired by nature. Through foraging along beaches and trails nature treasures are collected, pressed, and preserved to be artistically arranged in jewelry and home decor. Inger Taylor is a contemporary abstract artist whose work is intended to evoke emotion. Every painting is an organic process that starts with a rough idea that takes on its own shape and feel. Leticia Demeuse is a Brazilian fine artist living in California. Her abstract paintings elevate the energy and beauty of your home. Jared Weintraub is a fine art outdoor photographer with work representative of his love for the earth’s elements and natural formations. Jared’s pieces encompass ocean, alpine, and astrologically-infused star-filled skies, punctuated with unique lighting techniques. Additional tenants and artists will be announced. The San Diego Museum of Art (SDMA) is in full bloom this spring, with floral designers interpreting works of art from the Museum’s collection into vibrant floral displays from April 25–April 28, 2024. Art Alive is the Museum’s signature annual fundraiser, providing critical year-round support for exhibitions, education, and outreach programs in the community. The signature celebration brings a kaleidoscope of nearly 100 colorful floral arrangements inspired by works of art on view at SDMA. The theme for this year’s Art Alive celebrates Indian art and culture, and the event will include a special installation from the Museum’s renowned Edwin Binney 3rd collection of South Asian paintings. Complementing the exhibition, Art Alive 2024 features a highly talented selection of Indian keynote artists, including Nisha K. Sethi, Vani Shiroor, and Meghaa Modi. Nisha Sethi is a talented typography artist whose works will be displayed at Art Alive’s kick-off party, Bloom Bash. Vani Shiroor is founder of DOTURMINDS, a local art and mindfulness group that aims to help people gain clarity, confidence and purpose through rangoli, an ancient Indian art form that uses multi-colored sand to create floor decorations symbolizing wealth, joy and prosperity, as well as thanksgiving to deities. Meghaa Modi, the Museum’s first international rotunda designer and India’s premier wedding and concept floral designer, is traveling from Bangalore, India, to fill the Museum’s two-story rotunda with a vibrant, large-scale floral installation. Guests will relish her multi-sensory design that celebrates the rich cultural tapestry of India, centered around the revered bovine figure of the goddess Kamadhenu, described in Hinduism as the wish-granting mother of all cows. Bloom Bash also returns this year, offering immersive art installations, live performances, custom henna applications from Henna San Diego, sweet and savory bites from more than 30 top eateries, including local Indian restaurants, and signature cocktails, craft beer and upscale wines. The 21+ party also features a Ferris wheel in the Plaza de Panama outside the Museum, plus live performances from Indian drummers, dancers, and a DJ. The 2024 Art Alive floral exhibition will be on display to the public Friday, April 26, from noon to 5 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, and Sunday, April 28. General admission is complimentary for members, $40 for nonmembers, $5 for guests aged 7-17, and free for children under six. Timed tickets are required, and entry is anytime within the designated hours. Guests can enjoy Art Alive at their own pace; exit is not timed. From the Chicano Park Steering Committee: The 54th Chicano Park Day commemoration will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This family event is always free and open to the public. The theme will be 'Bringing Back the True Spirit and Energy of the Chicano Park Takeover'. Poster sketch by Jose Olague's based on this year's theme was voted by the majority of members, and thanks to Ray Flores for text and overall graphic design. Visitors to Chicano Park Day will experience traditional music and dance, including one of the most beautiful performances of Aztec Indigenous dance, lowrider exhibition, performers, children's art workshops, arts and crafts vendors. “Sounds and Swells” Presented by the Art of Elan and the Hausmann Quartet Join us for the return of Sounds and Swells! As part of the San Diego Central Library's new "Cinema + Sound Series," this collaboration between the Hausmann Quartet and Art of Elan features live music by Claude Debussy, Terry Riley, Franz Joseph Haydn, Felix Mendelssohn, and Franz Schubert accompanying local surfing footage from McCracken Films and Joey Taylor Photography.
