  • Are you ready to Party for the Planet? This Earth Day, Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego is kicking off a new event celebrating our ocean planet, highlighting some of the simple steps we all can take to make a difference. The family-friendly event runs April 22-23 and 29-30 and includes live music, recycled crafts, a scavenger hunt and the opportunity to contribute to an art installation. Birch Aquarium educators and Scripps scientists will also be hosting interactive stations that discuss how we can collectively tackle some of our planet’s greatest challenges. Party for the Planet is part of an annual nationwide initiative by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA) and its 220-plus accredited members.
