Arlon Jay Staggs, a native of Florence, Alabama, writes with humor and affection about the quirks of the Deep South. He earned his MFA in creative writing from the University of California, Riverside and his JD from the Mississippi College School of Law. His writing has appeared in The New York Times and December magazine. This is his debut novel. Arlon and his husband divide their time between Santa Rosa Beach, Florida and San Diego, California. North City, San Marcos is hosting its first-ever Classic Car Show, celebrating craftsmanship, design, and the culture that defines Southern California’s car scene. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., visitors can explore 50+ stunning vehicles on display, ranging from vintage classics and woodies to modern, exotic, and high-end showpieces, and a Classic Car Restoration Exhibit by Conservative Auto Body Shop. Appealing to drivers of all ages, the Family Friendly event features a Toddler Street Course of electric ride-on cars and scooters around a custom racetrack, and a Head-to-Head DieCast Cars Race Course, as well as other activities and lawn games. A live DJ will set the vibe with music, raffle prize giveaways, and announcements throughout the day. Trophies will be awarded in multiple categories, including Best of Show. Guests will have a chance to win gift cards to North City’s local eateries.
