  • This week of Summer Camp is all about crafts, crafts & more crafts! If you know a teen who loves making & learning new crafts, this camp is for them! We’ll cover a variety of traditional and modern craft mediums, incorporating creative exploration, fine motor skill practice, skill-building, and of course, FUN! We’ll keep things interesting, enjoyable and engaging by meeting each crafter where they’re at. Students will make a variety of fun projects to take home. Teens will explore fiber arts, ceramics, fused glass, woodworking, and more from professional craft artists. OPTIONAL | Lunch Hour Supervision If there is a camp ending as ours begins and you need your child or teen transferred, let us know! If you’d like your child or teen to stay during the lunch hour, there’s a $25 fee for the week to cover the lunchtime gap. They can bring a lunch and have lunch with us with the option to craft after lunch, or head out to grab a lunch and head back to the studio to eat in a safe, welcoming space.   • Join us for our latest Art + Design Workshop: Floral Arranging. This intimate workshop takes place in our Museum's Central Gallery and will be led by San Diego floral designer Gilberto Freihoff. Celebrate the sights, scents, and beauty of flowers and other botanical treasures. In just hours, you will learn about color palettes, textures, design principles and all the artful tricks-of-the-trade to create your own decadent floral composition. No prior experience is necessary. All materials are provided so that you can fully indulge your artistic side and take home your greatest floral masterpieces.   • The 44th Annual Ocean Beach Street Fair & Chili Cook-Off Festival offers attendees eclectic fun in the sun for all ages. Tens of thousands of visitors will attend the event from 10 am to 8 pm on Saturday, June 22, 2024, for a tasty festival nosh, art, beachfront entertainment, shopping, and more. Entry to the Street Fair is always free! The Chili Competition featured tastings from amateur entrants competing for the titles of Hottest Chili, Judges' Award, and Grand Prize: People's Choice Award. Chili Cook-Off - 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. - The Chili Cook-Off competition is held in the grassy area between Newport Avenue and the Pacific. Competitors will show off their chili cooking chops by competing for great prizes... not to mention the satisfaction of winning! Is eating (rather than cooking) delicious chili more your speed? Put your tastebuds to the test and cast a vote alongside the judges! Chili tasting begins at 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Two Stages Of Continuous Music - There will be two stages of nonstop music throughout the day at the Annual OB Street Fair. Music genres will include acoustic, rock, blues, alternative, Americana, and more. The audiences will be entertained by musicians from everywhere - including right here in our own backyard. Don't miss all the fun - mark your calendars for Saturday, June 22! Seaside Family Fun Zone: The Seaside Family Fun Zone at the Annual Ocean Beach Street Fair is tons of fun for the whole family! Beachside Beer Garden & Hodad's Burger Eating Contest: The Beachside Beer Garden will be rockin' all day for guests 21+ looking to enjoy an ice cold brew with an ocean view. It will be right next to the main stage with live music from 11 am to 8 pm. Also, we'll have the Hodad's Burger Eating contest, and the Chili Cook-Off winners announcement. Both beer and mixed drinks will be available. OB Dirty Birds Wing Eating Contest: Love chicken wings and keeping Ocean Beach clean, beautiful, and fun? Great, it's a win-win. Sign up for the Annual Street Fair's Dirty Birds Wing Eating contest and the proceeds support OBMA's Friends of OB Clean & Safe Program. The contest is held on the MainStage on Saturday from 1:30 p.m. - 2 p.m. FREE Trolley & Bike Valet: Ride to the festival for free! Go green and avoid the hassle of parking by riding a bike or taking a trolley to the Annual OB Street Fair & Chili Cook-Off Festival.   • The Library's Autumn Concert Series takes place on Fridays from September 6 to October 25. Each concert will begin at 1 p.m. in the Winn Room. Doors will open 15 minutes prior to the performance. Our first performance of the series features the Camarada Tango Quartet, live before their second tour in Argentina. The mission of CAMARADA is to elevate and enrich the San Diego community and beyond by presenting phenomenal chamber music concerts, while engaging diverse audiences through visionary and educational programming, featuring living composers, commissioning new music, and igniting a powerful connection between the audience, artists and music. Camarada is dedicated to presenting invigorating performances of musical masterworks. Established in 1994, Camarada shares the joy of chamber music by pairing performers of the highest caliber with intimate spaces throughout San Diego.
