  • In this talk, Anamaria Labao Cabato, Executive Director of the Philippine Performing Arts Company (PASACAT), will share an overview of the regions of the Philippines and their respective cultures through dance, music, and textiles. Anamaria will also discuss PASACAT’s partnership with Mingei and its upcoming Community Spotlight installation, which will be on view outside the Museum from mid-December through mid-January. About Anamaria Cabato Anamaria Cabato is the Executive Director of PASACAT, where she has served since its founding in 1970, first as a dancer, musician, and vocalist before stepping into leadership in 1983. A San Diego State University graduate with a B.S. in Business Administration, Cabato discovered her cultural identity through Philippine dance, inspiring her lifelong dedication to promoting Filipino arts and heritage. She has been recognized for her leadership and community service with honors such as the KFMB-TV 8 Cares Award and the Ladies of Elegance Award. In 2021, she co-chaired the "Filipinos of South Bay" exhibit at the Chula Vista Library, highlighting the migration and history of San Diego’s Filipino community. Our own very talented Russ Peck provides the music for this tale of Ollie trying to get his Scottish kilt-wearing nephew Stan to wear pants. In "Swiss Miss" (1938), the boys work for a tyrannic chef at a hotel in Switzerland, where a composer is working on his latest creation.   • Mr. Rotman is a renowned international concert pianist who has performed over 3400 concerts in 62 countries. Over the past 20 seasons Mr. Rotman has averaged over 100 concerts a year, performing in 2-4 countries each year. Mr. Rotman received his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Juilliard School in New York City. While a student, he was the recipient of nine awards in the form of grants, scholarships, and prizes. Today Mr. Rotman is a member of The Augustus D. Juilliard Society at the Juilliard School. Subsequently, he has been among the winners in five piano competitions, both in the United States and Europe. The most prestigious award was that of Laureate Winner in the 4th International Beethoven Competition in Vienna, Austria. Mr. Rotman participated in the 6th International Tchaikovsky Piano Competition in Moscow, Russia. Mr. Rotman has devoted a specific area of his musical life to the study and performance of the works of Beethoven. Beginning with a series of all Beethoven concerts in 1970 (the Beethoven bi-centennial), he was presented on Public Broadcast System in a special Beethoven concert. Mr. Rotman continues to perform the works of Beethoven, among other classics, in recital and with orchestra.
