The San Diego Watercolor Society proudly presents the 42nd International Exhibition juried by award-winning artist, Linda Daley Baker. This highly competitive exhibition represents the very best of water-based media art from around the world. The exhibition runs from Oct. 3-31, 2022 at our Gallery in The ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station. The Opening Reception is Friday, October 7, 5-8 p.m. with over 95 ready-to-hang original paintings plus refreshments and the fellowship of other art enthusiasts. Join us on Friday, September 2 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for an artist talk and live drawing event! Lori Mitchell will be conducting a live drawing demonstration, and Julia C R Gray will be giving a talk titled: Ocean Mystery in Ceramic Language, as well as conducting a live clay coral reef demonstration. The exhibition will present works by all 12 TWA group members, showcasing their individual visions of what “Turning Tides” means to them. As we head into a changed world, post-pandemic and with social and political shifts, these are expressions of hope during transition, of ways to move forward, of the force of the spirit and the resilience of nature. The works are in a range of media: from textiles to painting, ceramic and bronze sculpture to mixed media, and in many styles, from abstract to whimsical to realism. The group has been working and showing together for 6 years, and were recently featured at the Oceanside Museum of Art in an exhibition titled “Now.” Member artists also show individually, in galleries and museums on both coasts, and their work is held in corporate and private collections worldwide.
