Szczesny and Schroen will provide insight on their relief-refugee-internally displaced persons (IDPs) initiatives on the ground in Ukraine and Poland. Szczesny, a Polish national is the co-founder of Americans for Ukraine and leads their Ukraine-Polish refugee response on the border and, more recently, in Ukraine. Shroen, a San Diego native, is currently based out of Ukraine to set up the first "hotspot", consisting of a secure venue with a generator, computers, and a facility for teachers to maintain teaching delivery to children inside Ukraine. The San Diego World Affairs Council is excited to welcome both speakers upon their brief visit to the U.S. mid-February, and provide a platform for them to engage and inform our community by sharing details on the situation on the ground as it is today with an authentic narrative and visuals.
