  • It’s time for Summer Vibes in the Gaslamp Quarter with the return of the Gaslamp Skate Series! Hosted by Sunset Roller Club, from 5-8 p.m. comes alive with all-time hits of the 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s. You might know them from TikTok, but Sunset Roller Club now takes their tricks to the Gaslamp Quarter as a diverse group of skaters from all over San Diego which began as an outlet from the pandemic and now has exploded into a huge inclusive community of skaters of every level. Each Sunday, the Gaslamp Quarter is transformed into the roller-rink throwback of the century where all ages can get their groove on.   • On February 18, 2023, the San Diego World Affairs Council (SDWAC) will be honored to feature visiting representatives of Americans for Ukraine, Krzysztof Szczęsny, Co-Founder & President, and Emily Schroen, Chief Development Officer. Americans for Ukraine is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization supporting the Modlińska Humanitarian Aid Center in Warsaw, Poland. Szczesny and Schroen will provide insight on their relief-refugee-internally displaced persons (IDPs) initiatives on the ground in Ukraine and Poland. Szczesny, a Polish national is the co-founder of Americans for Ukraine and leads their Ukraine-Polish refugee response on the border and, more recently, in Ukraine. Shroen, a San Diego native, is currently based out of Ukraine to set up the first "hotspot", consisting of a secure venue with a generator, computers, and a facility for teachers to maintain teaching delivery to children inside Ukraine. The San Diego World Affairs Council is excited to welcome both speakers upon their brief visit to the U.S. mid-February, and provide a platform for them to engage and inform our community by sharing details on the situation on the ground as it is today with an authentic narrative and visuals.
