Mental Health First Aid is a 8-hr public education training program that teaches participants the signs & symptoms, and risk factors of the most common mental health disorders. It also teaches a five-step action plan to assist a person who is experiencing a mental health episode or crisis. Since 2015 we have trained over 33,000 participants in MHFA. BUILD A FLYING CAR! Sound complicated? It’s not. The idea is simple: build a vehicle, release it down a ramp, and try to land it safely on the other side of the gap. A staff member will be assigned to help answer questions, get material grants for students, and host a student or student/parent launch meeting to explain the concept. Students, we are offering a limited amount of $30 grants to buy/obtain materials to build their vehicles. Grant applications will be available once the student has an approved blueprint. Checklist: Submit your initial Blueprint design to us by Feb 1, 2022. Our judging team will evaluate your entry and will let you know if you’re going on to the final round by Feb. 20, 2022. We’ll give you opportunities to talk to our experts at the San Diego Air & Space Technology Low Speed Wind Tunnel, which is owned by the Museum. The Big Day! We’ll hold the competition finals at the Museum, and see how your car does on the ramp. We’ll then pick the winners and award the prizes! Twenty one photographers who have displayed their work in past exhibitions at our gallery have graciously donated photographic artwork to this auction. Proceeds from our auction will go towards scholarships for selected North County high school and college photography students. Our non-profit mission is to foster the education of photography. The list includes a Pulitzer Prize winner, Don Bartletti; a widely published California photographer, Ted Orland; and photographers who have shown in museums in San Diego and internationally, Philipp Scholz Rittermann and Suda House.
