The ground hasn’t stopped moving since a 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck Mexicali three weeks ago. The quake rattled downtown San Diego. Luckily, just two people died. But the quake ruptured more than 25,000 lives in Mexicali and may have changed the landscape forever.

City officials in El Centro and Calexico estimate Sunday's quake damage will exceed a hundred million dollars. Calexico's City Manager says the temblor has already cost the city tax dollars and left at least 3,000 people without work.

Calexico, 30 miles from the epicenter of Sunday’s earthquake, was not as badly damaged as Mexicali. But its downtown was hard hit.

A magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck on Easter Sunday in Baja California. People in San Diego felt the quake which was centered about 19 miles southeast of Mexicali. Mexican authorities say at least one person died and several buildings have collapsed. In San Diego the damage was minimal.

California Sen. Dianne Feinstein says food banks in the state's agricultural regions need help from the federal government to meet a massive increase in demand. She blamed three years of below-normal precipitation in California, which has led to fallowed fields, and a high unemployment in many Central Valley communities.
