Tom Fudge: Chicago's Wrigley Field turned out to be a very unpleasant place for the San Diego Padres yesterday. The Cubs got 11 runs in innings five and six. In the end, they beat the Pads 12-3. Unfortunately, yesterday's game was not uncharacteristic of how well the Padres have done this year.
In fact, this year the Padres are doing pretty bad. With 14 wins and 25 losses they are not only at the bottom of National League West. They have the worst record in Major League Baseball. An article on Saturday , pointed out that the Padres ranked last in the majors in runs scored, batting average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage. This, from a team that won it's division two out of the last three years.
