Chargers fans can breath a sigh of relief today now that running back LaDainian Tomlinson has agreed to a new contract that will keep the fan favorite in San Diego for at least three more years.
The team announced the decision late Tuesday, putting an end to months of speculation about whether the five-time Pro Bowler and former National Football League Most Valuable Player would remain in the blue and gold uniform.
There were questions as to whether he would remain because he was marred by injuries last year.
Terms of the deal were not immediately released but a source told The North County Times that Tomlinson will earn $6.725 million. His base salary in 2010 will be lower to give the Chargers salary cap space, but he will recoup the reduction through a signing bonus, the Times reported.
