High Winds, Power Outages Prompt School Closures Across San Diego County

The San Diego County Office of Education will close the North County Regional Education Center at 255 Pico Ave. in San Marcos at 12:30 p.m. Friday.

The San Diego County Office of Education is reporting the following school districts will be closed Friday in expectation of high winds and potential power outages.

The decision comes in wake of a series of wildfires that have sprung up in North County San Diego driven by powerful Santa Ana winds, burning thousands of acres.

Several of the districts are in the path of the Lilac Fire in northern San Diego County.
