MAUREEN CAVANAUGH (Host): They are devilishly difficult, not often performed and therefore, absolutely perfect for San Diego's early music performance group - the Bach Collegium. We're talking about Bach's Motets a series of choral works by the Baroque composer, who is better known for his instrumental fugues and Brandenberg concertos.
This is just one of the rare treats served up by the members of this highly specialized musical ensemble. Members of the Bach Collegium performed on "These Days" last June, just before they gave the San Diego premiere performance of Handel's Theodora. The Collegium is giving new life to music from the Renaissance and Baroque - but staying as true to the original sound and performance of those pieces as possible.
