Keep an eye out for brightly colored space invaders in downtown San Diego.
The French street artist Invader has been pasting his Space Invader-inspired tile characters in cities all over the world since the late 90s, and last week they showed up in San Diego.
Invader is also in the recent Banksy film "Exit Through The Gift Shop" (as Thierry Guetta's cousin), currently playing at Landmark's Hillcrest cinemas.
Some San Diego building owners gave permission for Invader to affix his mosaic tiles to the side of their building. But, like a true street artist, he also took liberties with walls throughout the city. Other locations where Invader's work can be seen are:
The California Theater, 4th Ave and C St (North side of the building facing the parking lot).
Horton Plaza: On Level 1 near Banana Republic, adjacent to escalator that goes up to Louis Vuitton and on the blue “bridge” in the middle of the shopping center between the middle two levels.
City College, on the "M" building.
Don't forget to look up when you're walking around the city. Building corners and rooftops are being invaded.
