More Swine Flu Vaccine Arrives To San Diego County

San Diego received an unexpected shipment of 78,000 doses of H1N1 vaccine last night, according to the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA).

About 10,000 of those doses are being distributed directly to the county's public health centers.

The remaining doses will be distributed to primary care providers (including pediatricians, obstetricians, and family providers), ambulatory and community clinics not reached in last Friday’s allocation, as well as used to conduct vaccination clinics at schools, according to HHSA.

This latest allotment of H1N1 vaccine consists primarily of multi-dose injectable vaccine and nasal spray.

County officials will announce distribution plans for this third allotment this morning.
