Egypt Releases Political Prisoner over Elections

Egypt has released a political prisoner whose case has attracted international attention. Ayman Nour was imprisoned on Jan. 29. He heads a small liberal party and has called for multiparty-elections in Egypt.

Two weeks ago, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak agreed to make Egypt's election later this year a multiparty vote. Nour's case was taken up by the Bush administration and U.S. lawmakers. Hear NPR's Jacki Lyden and Rep. Adam Schiff.
