Army Combat Veteran With PTSD Holds Gun to Wife's Head, Barricaded in Alpine Home

A SWAT team has been called this morning to a home at 19515 Japatul Road in Alpine, where an armed Army combat veteran has barricaded himself in his home after holding a gun to his wife's head.

"He had a gun to her head earlier and fired shots, but no one was injured. She got out of the house, rant to a neighbor's house and called us," said Lt. Marco Garmo with the San Diego Sheriff's department. Garmo tells me that the suspect, Michael Foster, 38, is a U.S. Army combat veteran and medic who who has been suffering flashbacks and is on medication and suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), the wife told police.

Foster was arrested about a week ago for causing a disturbance at Casino Inn Bar in Alpine, according to information his wife gave Sheriff's deputies. Sheriff's patrol deputies have set up a command post and are barricading off parts of the surrounding Alpine neighborhood.
