Blogger extraordinaire and Camp Pendleton Marine Corps wife Semper Fi Momma contacted me today, concerned about a study on military families that came out a few weeks ago. The study (as Home Post reported) found that children with parents deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan were more likely to suffer from mental health problems like depression and anxiety.
Semper Fi Momma, called Laura by her friends, wrote a response to that study on Camp Pendleton Patch, and she was hoping to share her thoughts on Home Post as well. (Laura read about the study originally in Parents magazine.) Her initial thoughts at the study's findings that deployments are stressful to military families?
But Laura's main problem with the study is the suggestion that military families should lean more on civilians for support during difficult times:
Thanks, Laura, for your insightful response to the study. I'd love to hear from other military moms and dads as well!
