Once upon a time "The King" was simply Army Sp4 Elvis A. Presley. Elvis was an active-duty Soldier from 1958 until 1960. He remained in the Army Reserves until 1964. Presley spent most of his time in active duty in Germany, where he met the teenager who would one day become Mrs. Priscilla Presley.
The records of Presley's military service have been stored at the National Archives at St. Louis, along with the military records of such celebrities as Jackie Robinson and Bea Arthur. But now those records will be stored in a state-of-the-art building in North St. Louis County. Local television station KSDK has more on the story:
