Accused murderer Jennifer Trayers is expected to take the stand again today in her own defense. The U-T San Diego reports Trayers testified Monday how she discovered her husband of 18 years, a Navy doctor, was having an affair with a woman he met while deployed on a hospital ship. She told the jury:
Trayers stabbed 41-year-old Lt. Cmdr. Frederick Trayers III to death in their North Park home on December 4, 2010. His body was discovered two days later by San Diego police.
ProsecutorFiona Khalil maintains the 43-year-old Trayers is guilty of premeditated murder, saying she planned to slay her husband, even waiting until he took sleeping medication to make the killing easier.
Trayer's attorney, Kerry Armstrong, has argued that her client is guilty only of voluntary manslaughter. She explained why to San Diego television station NBC 7/39:
