A group of 30 marines, sailors and soldiers from 16 different countries took the oath of citizenship in a ceremony on board the USS Midway Museum on Thursday.

Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Virginia is currently on lockdown, after a service member was stabbed outside the Navy exchange on the hospital's grounds. The Navy has identified the suspect as Petty Officer 3rd Class Wilbur Harwell. -
General Joseph F. Dunford, Jr., commander of the International Security Assistance Force and United States Forces-Afghanistan, has been tapped to be the next Marine Corps commandant. Dunford was commanding officer of the Camp Pendleton-based I Marine Expeditionary Force from 2009-10. -

The Hornet crashed while attempting to land on the Coronado-based aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson, said U.S. Pacific Fleet officials. -
A Marine spokesman said the jet was a Harrier from Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma, Arizona. The pilot safely ejected, and there were no immediate reports of injuries on the ground. -
San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer was chosen as one of five California mayors to join a White House initiative to end homelessness among military veterans.
