Wes Moore, an Army combat veteran and television host, will have a conversation Tuesday aboard the USS Midway with service members returning from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Moore will talk to local veterans about the challenges they and their families face now that they are home and as U.S. military involvement in those two countries winds down.
The event, sponsored by KPBS, is free and open to the public. KPBS North County Bureau Chief Alison St John will moderate the discussion. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the conversation starts at 7 p.m.
Those attending “Coming Back with Wes Moore” are asked to register at kpbs.org/comingback or email Claudine Casillas at ccasillas@kpbs.org. The registration deadline was extended to accommodate more guests. A dessert reception will be held after Moore’s talk.
Moore, who was an Army paratrooper and captain, served in Afghanistan with the 1st Brigade of the 82nd Airborne Division. He also was a White House fellow to Secretary of State Condeleezza Rice and serves on the board of the Iraq Afghanistan Veterans of America.
He’s the author of the book, “The Other Wes Moore,” and is a host of “Beyond Belief” on the Oprah Winfrey Network.
He also was the executive producer and host of the three-episode PBS series, “Coming Back with Wes Moore,” which aired on KPBS in May.
