A San Diego city council candidate is speaking out about a questionable campaign donation made by his brother.
Felipe Hueso is running to be the next council representative for San Diego's 8th District. His brother, Ben Hueso, currently holds the job. Ben Hueso is running for State Assembly.
As reported by the San Diego Union Tribune, Ben Hueso's campaign acknowledges donating $25,000 that was collected for Hueso's Assembly run to a group called San Diegans for Healthy Neighborhoods and a Strong Economy. That group was put together to support Felipe Hueso's city council campaign. Such a transfer of funds is illegal and the money is being returned.
In a statement Felipe Hueso says he does not know anything about his brother's relationship to the San Diegans for Healthy Neighborhoods group. Felipe Hueso says the group is separate from his campaign and he has no knowledge of its activities.
