Witnesses' accounts of a deadly struggle between federal border agents and Anastasio Hernandez contradict the official version of what happened. Hernandez died three days after being Tasered by federal border agents at the San Ysidro crossing.
Humberto Navarette says he was walking across the border to Tijuana the night Anastasio Hernandez was Tasered.
Navarette says he heard a man screaming for help and then saw someone down on the ground.
That's when he pulled out his cell phone to record.
"No. Ayudame. Ahhhhhh. Por favor." No, help me, please, you can hear a man pleading.
The video is grainy and hard to see.
"The heart that he was putting on his voice, that's what got my attention. What I noticed was that Anastasio was already in handcuffs and he was facing down and he wasn't resisting. Another thing is, the whole time he was down, the agents were hitting Anastasio on both sides of his ribs," says Navarrete.
Three people in Navarette's recordings can be heard asking agents why they're using excessive force.
Federal officials have said Hernandez was not handcuffed and was out of control. That's why they Tasered him.
