Man In Custody After Threatening To Jump On To I-805

A man who was threatening to jump off an Interstate 805 overpass in North Park, was taken into custody by San Diego police Wednesday morning.

Parts of I-805 were closed for about two hours as officers negotiated with the man who police Officer Humberto Hernandez said had been seen scaling the Adams Avenue overpass and was hanging on to a fence.

The first calls to authorities came in at 8:53 a.m., and officers were on scene and negotiating with the man by 8:59 a.m., Hernandez said. Officers took the man into custody without incident shortly before 11 a.m., after which all affected traffic lanes were reopened, the California Highway Patrol reported.
