We are pleased to announce two exhibitions by local emerging promising artists from Tijuana and San Ysidro, Mariel Miranda and Jon Villanueva, respectively. The exhibitions will be opening simultaneously with an opening reception on July 1, 2023, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at The FRONT Arte y Cultura (147 W. San Ysidro Blvd, 92173) As told by artist Mariel Miranda, “El viento o el polvo, tal vez is an exhibition where I ex- plore speculative fictions at my neighborhood in Tijuana, taking a science fiction work- shop as a point of departure to investigate notions of community, labor, myths, and fu- ture.” Separately, Jon Villanueva’s exhibition, Missouri loves company, is a collection of oil paintings documenting the artists’ navigation through life, and the transition into adult- hood. A little background on this world-renowned artist: Kelly "RISK" Graval has been synonymous with the Los Angeles art community for over 30 Years. From his early days as a founder of the West Coast Graffiti movement to gallery and museum exhibits around the globe, including the 2012 "Art In The Streets" at the LA MoCA and the hugely successful “Beyond The Streets” exhibits in Los Angeles and New York. His work is shown at top galleries in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Toronto, New York, Miami, and London. He was knighted by the Medici Family He was the first artist invited to paint in Michaelangelo's studio in over 400 years He was the first West Coast artist to paint the N.Y. Subway Trains. During summer break from high school in 1987, he hitchhiked to New York to paint Subway trains. He spent a few weeks painting trains, tunnels, and streets. Nimesh Patel is a comedian and Emmy-nominated writer who has risen the ranks to some of comedy’s biggest stages due to his unassailable joke writing, prolific output, and pioneering use of technology. His first writing job came after Chris Rock saw him perform standup and hired him directly to write for The Academy Awards in 2016 and tour with him.
