  • Latent Visions, an MFA thesis show by Emily Greenberg, features two short films that explore generative artificial intelligence as a subject and medium. Created with generative video and found footage, The Imitation Game is a short narrative film about what it means to be human in a world increasingly mediated by simulations and representations. In Deep Drew, a surprisingly vulnerable and philosophical deepfake of Drew Barrymore confronts her own complicities and traumas while reflecting on the harms generative AI poses to writers, actors, and one’s own sense of self. This memorial, modeled after the headstones at Arlington National Cemetery, honors the nearly 300 fallen servicemen and servicewomen from the four southernmost counties in California, who died in the Afghanistan and Iraq wars. Chapter members of all services will be on hand to provide information to the public about the display and to read the names and data about each of the fallen, with the assistance of the public. The event will close and be put away at 4 p.m. The press and public is asked to stop by, honor the fallen, read their names, and reflect on this aspect of the cost of war.
