  • San Diego Tết Festival Tết Nguyên Đán (Vietnamese New Year) is Vietnam’s most important festival. Based on the lunar calendar, it typically falls between mid-January and late February, coinciding with Chinese New Year. This family-centered celebration traditionally spans 3-7 days, during which families reunite, share festive meals, and exchange New Year’s greetings. The name “Tết Nguyên Đán” refers to the feast of the first morning of the lunar calendar. We will be celebrating the Year of the Horse!   • Convoy steps into its cultural era with the first Lunar New Year kickoff celebration ever hosted in the Convoy Cultural District. Hosted by The Doan Foundation, Social Artistry, and Up 2 You Cafe, this event marks the beginning of a new community tradition in one of San Diegos most iconic Pan Asian business corridors. This festival blends the energy of an old-school street night market with a modern community gathering. Attendees can come hungry and expect a stacked lineup of regional food vendors, curated cultural goods, and small businesses offering one-of-a-kind finds. The district will be filled with roaming performances, live lion dance showcases by top San Diego lion dance teams- Legendary Lion Dance and Southern Sea Dragon and Lion Dance, traditional drums, night market lighting, vendors stalls, community art displays, and spaces for families to gather, reconnect, and celebrate the new year in a way the area has missed for decades.   • Please join Helix Instrumental Music Association as we celebrate 32 years of supporting the Helix Instrumental Music Program at Helix Charter High School. Upon your arrival at the beautiful Thursday Club in picturesque Point Loma, you and your guests will be treated to lively Dixieland music and complimentary cocktails from our open bar. You will have the opportunity to peruse our silent auction items, as you indulge in hand-passed hors d'oeuvres. You can visit our photo booth and strike a pose with a variety of fun props, followed by a buffet dinner and scrumptious desserts. The festivities will continue with a performance by our Helix Bagpipe band, and our emcee will keep the night moving with our roller derby (a must-see!) and our live auction. The night will wrap up with a poignant photo presentation featuring our students, and some words from the music directors. It is a night not to be missed! Music in our schools is vitally important to the development of young leaders. The award-winning Helix Instrumental Music Program includes approximately 150 students in seven different ensembles. Proceeds from this event provide repair and maintenance of instruments, outside professional instruction, transportation, performance opportunities, and scholarship funds.
