  • September 28, 1-4 p.m. Come and explore the gorgeous natural blue of indigo in this hands-on natural dye workshop. You will learn a range of shibori dye resist processes in this creative workshop, including tegumo (spiderweb), ori nui (stitched), and itajime (clamped) shibori methods. You will also have the unique opportunity to work on a large and light organic cotton shawl (can be used as a bed cover). This textile will be approximately 40″ x 65″ and you’ll embellish it through shibori methods, followed by dyeing it in a natural indigo vat. You will gain a better understanding of the process and symbiotic relationship between indigo dye and this traditional textile surface design. This is a unique opportunity to learn the basic techniques to continue your journey into creating beautiful, unique textiles. Materials fee: $10 (cash) to be paid to instructor at the start of the workshop. This class is appropriate for ages 14+ years old. This class is designed for beginners as well as returning students.
