  • Master strawberry growing for sweet, homegrown berries all season long. Berries are one of San Diego's easiest and most rewarding crops! (We'll also talk about blueberries - which are more of a devotion than a simple harvest!) Learn variety selection, planting techniques, and care strategies for abundant harvests. We'll cover soil requirements, feeding schedules, runner management, and pest prevention. Whether you're growing in beds, containers, or hanging baskets, discover how to keep your plants productive from winter through spring and into early summer. Since 1972, we've focused on simple growing methods, time-tested advice, and locally-grown plants. We'd love to invite you down to our open-air canyon classroom for casual learning, informed by over 50 years of experience. Free to attend, no RSVP required. Class times can change or shift, we recommend you check our website for the most up-to-date (cityfarmersnursery.com). Parking Notice for Class Participants If you're attending a free class and are able to walk a short distance, please consider parking on Altadena Ave and walking over. This keeps our lot available for customers shopping at our three businesses who may be on tight schedules. When classes fill up, a full parking lot can prevent other shoppers from visiting our stores. By parking on the street, you help ensure everyone can access our businesses. Planning to shop? No worries! You can easily swing back through our "Loading Zone" after class for convenient drive-up loading of bulky purchases—no parking required.
