Celebrate the tradition of hanami at the annual Japanese Friendship Garden & Museum Cherry Blossom Festival March 12-15, 2026. Join us from March 12-15 for an exciting lineup of special performances, featuring guest acts on March 14 and 15! Come see new attractions, including a wall of lanterns and community art. Bring the whole family for a fun-filled day of including activities in our children's area! Sample a variety of cultural food, or delicious beverages in the popular beer and sake garden, nestled in the lower garden. Don’t miss the chance to shop from our amazing local vendors in the upper garden, and then take a leisurely stroll through the cherry blossom grove. It’s the perfect way to celebrate spring!
Japanese Friendship Garden San Diego
The Japanese Friendship Garden is an expression of friendship between San Diego and its sister city Yokohama that binds the two cultures to create a unique experience for visitors from all over the world. Representing a new concept in the development of a Japanese garden outside of Japan, the Japanese Friendship Garden is well-known for its unique setting, stone arrangement, Koi pond, exhibit house and ornamental tree collection. As a valued asset to Balboa Park, the Japanese Friendship Garden of San Diego is also an educational resource to the community, providing a variety of seminars, classes and workshops as well as accredited horticultural classes. The Japanese Friendship Garden of San Diego is proud to present a remarkable collection of Japanese artifacts, a Bonsai exhibit with circulating exhibitions by Bonsai Masters and many more valuable living collections.
